DELICIOUS MISCHIEF: MOVIN' ON UP!
HOUSTON - Delicious Mischief, the popular Houston food and wine radio show hosted by John DeMers and Rhonda Findley, is moving to KRTS 92.1 FM beginning Saturday Sept. 21.
The move to the independently owned classical music station, coupled with an innovative new talk format
spread over two hours with light musical interludes, offers a fresh and stylish showcase to the local chefs,
restaurateurs, cookbook authors and visiting winemakers who bring Delicious Mischief so much of its flair. The
program is presented on KRTS Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with major funding from Spec's Wines, Spirits
and Finer Foods.
"It's music for your mouth," says DeMers, who moved to Houston from New Orleans to serve as newspaper food editor
and now concentrates on Delicious Mischief and creating a new Texas food and wine magazine. "For us, KRTS was love
at first listen, more than 18 months ago. The people who operate the station are great. And the format attracts the
very people who support the Houston food and wine scene as part of their overall pursuit of the good life. Rhonda
and I look forward to pursuing the good life right along with them."
In addition to Delicious Mischief in Houston, DeMers and Findley host an additional edition of the show each Sunday
live in New Orleans - where they created the concept nearly four years ago. That variation is heard on CNN/Bloomberg
Financial affiliate WGSO 990/AM, Sundays from Noon-1 p.m.
"People elsewhere are always surprised when I tell them how diverse and exciting the Houston restaurant scene is,"
says Findley, a native of Little Rock who now divides her time between her two radio cities. "In the course of
hosting Delicious Mischief, we have tasted and talked about just about every cuisine on earth, all of it available
right here. That gives us great freedom on the air, of course, not to mention plenty of chances to try new foods
and wines."
DeMers, former food editor of United Press International and the Houston Chronicle, is the author of 24 published
books. He has joined forces with Findley to pen "The Food Lovers Guide to Texas," scheduled for national publication
by Globe-Pequot Press in Spring 2003. Together, they've also published "New Orleans Unleashed" and "Houston Unleashed,"
kid-friendly verse-and-photo books starring Findley's half-Chihuahua, half-Australian blue heeler, Indy.
The move to KRTS is being promoted with a special "Have Dinner With John and Rhonda" contest on the show's website,
www.deliciousmischief.com. People going to the site can register to win a multi-course dinner with DeMers and Findley
at the new Two Chefs Bistro in Houston.
Executive producer of Delicious Mischief is Doug Harris, with Jodie Eisenhardt serving as producer. Any questions
regarding show sponsorships or host guest appearances should be directed to Creative Animal at (713) 522-4273.
